Clarion Hotel
- This popular hotel on the edge of the River Shannon was designed by Murray O’Laoire Architects and completed in 2002.
- Murray O’Laoire Architects were one of Ireland’s most prolific architectural studios during the 1990s and 2000s, designing buildings such as Terminal One at Dublin Airport and CIT Cork School of Music. The studio was formed in 1979 by architects Sean O’Laoire and Hugh Murray, who was chair of EVA for more than 30 years.
- This is Limerick’s second tallest building, after Riverpoint, which is a mixed-used commercial and residential development on Bishops Quay.
- This site was one of 12 listed venues for the 30th edition of EVA in 2012, curated by Katerina Gregos (b. 1967, Greece) and titled Give(a)way. It was used as both a subject and a venue for a work by Eleni Christodoulou (b. 1965, Greece), who displayed a wallpaper in the lobby of the hotel that incorporated images of the hotel in its design.
