This former hair salon, on Davis Street in Limerick city centre, has been derelict for a number of years.
Davis Street is named after Thomas Davis (b. 1818, Ireland; d. 1845), a poet, Irish nationalist and one of the founders of the Young Ireland Movement.
This site was one of 19 venues for the 26th edition of EVA in 2002, curated by Apinan Poshyananda (b. 1956, Thailand) and titled Heroes + Holies.
At this site Bernie Laherty (b. 1972, Ireland) presented There… (2002), a mixed-media installation made from thermoplastic and a cotton sheet, exploring themes of intimacy and codependency.
