Sadlier’s Fishmongers
- Sadler's Fishmongers is located on Roches Street which is named after the affluent Roche family, who were bankers and merchants in Limerick during the 18th century, and supported Edmund Sexton Pery in his development of Newtown Pery.
- Founded by Jim and Susan Sadlier, Sadliers Fishmongers has been supplying the people of Limerick with fresh fish and poultry since 1948. They moved to 2 Roches Street in 1952. In 1960 architect Thomas S. McMahon helped to modernise the shop, incorporating the glass front and terrazzo flooring it has today.
- This site was one of nineteen venues used for the 41st edition of EVA International in 2025 presented as part of the Guest Programme, It Takes a Village, curated by Eszter Szakács in collaboration with the EVA team.
- That year, Ciarán Ó Dochartaigh (b. 1978) presented an installation titled Triploid/Diploid I (2025) - a body of work consisting of sculptural objects, graphic drawings and illuminated text, set within the displays of the store. The work included a number of delicate glass-blown works, rendered from gut microbes and the internal organs of fish and fowl.
